Brian Brown brings more than 20 years of experience in financial services, financial technology (Fintech), regulatory technology (Regtech), and software-as-a-service (SaaS) to the CFO Systems team. He leverages his professional experience and leadership philosophy based on a balance of integrity, transparency, empathy, and accountability to help his clients meet today’s difficult business challenges while growing their businesses.
He began his career as a bank examiner for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, followed by roles as an internal auditor for a publicly traded multi-bank holding company and then as the finance officer for a subsidiary of the same company. Brian briefly changed industries to build out the FP&A function of a coal mining company before returning to the Fintech and Regtech industries to develop the FP&A function at the nation’s fourth largest provider of core bank processing software services and related technology solutions. Brian led their strategy and execution of investor, board, and lender relations, FP&A, treasury, accounting, tax, facilities management, procurement, client billing, legal, and contract administration functions.
During his tenure as CFO, Brian collaborated to drive compound annual profitability growth of 13+% and margin expansion of 9+%, resulting in a compound annual growth rate of 21+% in enterprise value. Other achievements include improving cash management procedures to increase working capital by more than $8M, driving operating efficiencies of $5M+ that included generating 1.5% in margin expansion in back-office operations alone, and leading financial due diligence, legal, regulatory, and investor relations for a $1.6B take-private transaction.
